"On Friday morning, Mr and Mrs R. Hayward received news that their second son – Pte. James Hayward – had been killed in action on Oct. 1st. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents, who have three other sons serving in the Army. Pte. Hayward belonged to the gun section of the Oxon and Bucks Light Infantry, and was 24 years of age."
