Husband of Annie Elizabeth Holton, of Wendlebury.
"The following letter has been received by the wife of Pte. A.W. Holton, of Wendlebury, who recently died after being gassed. The letter is from his Chaplain.
“Dear Madam, – It is with great regret that I write to you about your husband, Pte. A.W. Holton, 2/1 Northumberland Hussars. He was admitted to this hospital badly gassed, and died at 4.15 a.m. this morning. He was unconscious for some time and left no message. I buried him in the Soldiers Cemetery at Dozinghem in Belgium. The number of his grave is Plot 1, Row H, number 2. I have packed and sealed his personal effects and they will be forwarded to you in due course through the official channel.
I pray that in this your great loss you ask for comfort and guidance from Him who alone fully understands our sorrows, and alone can and will give full consolation and hope to those in whose hearts a vacant place is left by the separation of death. I beg you therefore to turn to Him in your great trouble for He will surely help you.”" Bicester Advertiser 10/08/1917
