"Mrs Berry, of Little Chesterton, has now been officially informed that her son Pte. Frederick Berry, of the O. and B.L.I., was killed in action on August 23rd. A sergeant in his company speaks in high terms of the deceased soldier. He says: “he was a splendid fellow and always ready to do his bit for his mates. He was going to attend a wounded man when he was killed. I shall miss him very much.” Private Berry was only 24 years of age." Bicester Advertiser 14/09/1917
