Son of John & Rosina Powell, of 41 Sheep Street, Bicester. Brother of Albert.

"Mr and Mrs John Powell, of 41, Sheep-street, Bicester, have received notification that their youngest son, Rifleman Herbert Percy Powell, of the King’s Royal Rifles Corps, died in hospital in France on Sept. 26th from wounds received the same day. The sister in charge of the hospital to which Rfmn. Powell was taken, in a letter to his parents, says he was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious state on Sept. 26th, badly wounded in the head and right arm. Despite the fact that everything possible was done for him, he died at 8:20 the same evening, never regaining consciousness.
Private Powell, who would have been 23 years of age yesterday (Thursday) joined the army in July, 1915, and went to France in the following December. He had been wounded twice and gassed once prior to meeting his death, and less than a month ago he was in England. Much sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Powell, who lost another son in May of last year." Bicester Advertiser 04/10/1918
