"The death has taken place of 2nd Lieutenant Reginald Strickland, 3rd (attached 2nd) Oxon and Bucks Light Infantry, second son of Mr and Mrs W. Strickland, of Mixbury. He had been expected home for Christmas leave, and though far from well endeavoured to go on with his work up to the last moment, but was obliged to go into hospital suffering, apparently, from severe chill, dying suddenly of acute ascending paralysis."
