"A great gloom passed over the village of Ambrosden upon the receipt of the news of the death of Pte. Henry E. Turner, a member of the O.B.L.I. The deceased soldier had been in France for a considerable period, and appears to have met his death as he was going into action. He held the respect of the village and neighbourhood, and widespread sympathy is felt for his wife and relations. Prior to the time of his enlistment he had held the post of churchwarden at the church of the neighbouring parish of Merton." Bicester Advertiser 07/09/1917
